"Coffee with Jesus" Adult Bible Study: Begins October 10th
Wednesday evenings; 6-7 pm in rooms F-145/146
What would it be like to have coffee with Jesus? How would that conversation go? What would you ask?
Coffee with Jesus is a study based on a comic strip of the same name. In the comic strip you will meet several characters who honestly engage with Jesus about their successes and failures, wants and needs, effectively showing what conversation with God – or prayer – might look like.
The class begins Wednesday, October 10th, at 6:00 p.m. in F-145. To register, please contact Rev. Beth Brown Shugart by e-mail at email@example.com. The cost of $20 includes the textbook.
Come Join the Crossroads Sunday School Class
Sunday mornings; 9:30 & 11 am in room E-132
Come join the Crossroads Sunday School Class—now with two opportunities for faith, fellowship and family! The Crossroads Sunday School Class is a welcoming group, generally in their 20’s-40’s, mostly with younger children, but all are welcome. Our focus is growing in our faith, sharing time together as a family, and encouraging one another as brothers and sisters in Christ. We will be using various studies to broaden our understanding of the Bible and how it relates to our everyday life.
We are two meeting times—9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., with a shared time of prayer and fellowship (and often donuts) in between. Both classes will be using the same material so if you can’t make it to one class, feel free to join the other on any Sunday. The Crossroads Sunday School Class meets in room E-132, located immediately behind the Sanctuary, next to the Gathering Room. Great childcare and learning opportunities are available for kids throughout these times. If you have any questions, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or call/text Bryan Taylor at 770-826-9582. Please come and join one of our classes as we start an exciting new chapter for this expanding class!
“Disciple Fast Track: Into the Word, Into the World” Begins September 9th
Begins Sunday, September 9th
Join Rev. C. Kay Fuino as we begin the next session of Disciple Fast Track with Into the Word, Into the World in September. This study will immerse you in the books of Genesis and Exodus for 12 weeks in the fall and the books of Luke and Acts for 12 weeks in the spring.
Into the Word helps deepen an understanding of Scripture and make connections between what you already know and what you are reading. Each week you will encounter three spiritual disciplines, learn what they are and how you can engage those disciplines. The first discipline varies from week to week, and then moves into Sabbath and prayer. In every session, you commit to how you respond to Scripture in terms of ministry in the world.
Into the Word identifies some needs in the world for which ministry is needed and suggests possible responses, then invites you to summarize the scripture message that will shape your ministry and to decide what response and commitment to make to that message. Each week you will be guided in experiencing the gift of Sabbath rest and renewal.
The class will meet on Sunday evenings beginning on September 9th from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in rooms F-205/206, located on the 2nd floor of the Family Life Center. Disciple Fast Track is designed for those with busy lives and the reading is very manageable for each day. Class members share what they have learned, watch a short video and are led through the weekly readings. Please join us even if you have had taken Disciple in the past, as it is a wonderful way to renew your studies.
The cost of the book for Genesis-Exodus is $15 and may be paid by cash or check made out to the church. Please call the church at 770-476-3776 and reserve your space in the class with our receptionist Tracy Brinker. If you have any questions, please contact Rev. C. Kay Fuino by e-mail at email@example.com or call 770-476-3776, ext. 117.
