CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP CLASS aspires to diversity of age, gender and
ethnicity. The class is grounded in scripture and the Wesley tradition. We seek
a deeper meaning for the Christian life in the modern world, as well as striving
for a better understanding of scripture and tradition in the Methodist Church
specifically and Christianity generally. We invite all seekers to join our quest
for a deeper understanding and experience of God’s kingdom. The Christian
Fellowship Class meets in rooms E-134/136 on the E-Wing. EXPLORERS' CLASS includes ages 50+. Biblical study and contemporary issues are discussed. The class participates in missions throughout the year. Great fellowship opportunities are available through quarterly socials. The Explorers Class meets in rooms F-153/154 on the first floor of the Family Life Center. INQUIRER'S CLASS is a short-term 6-week information class that is offered twice a year. Attendees learn about the history of Duluth First UMC, United Methodist beliefs, and opportunities for involvement and service at Duluth First UMC. Dates for this class are announced in The Sunday Supplement. When in session, the Inquirer’s Class meets in room E-132 on the E-Wing. LADIES' BIBLE CLASS is a lecture discussion group based on the International Lesson Series. The class is made up of those who continue to seek to follow Christ in their “golden” years. The Ladies’ Bible Class meets in room E-138 on the E-Wing. S.O.S. - SINGLE ON SUNDAY CLASS, for ages 40 and up, is for those who are unmarried or married attending Sunday school without a spouse. Lessons, straight from scripture, are appropriate for the beginner as well as more advanced students of the Bible. Social gatherings and class projects build friendship, support, service, and worship. The S.O.S. Class meets in room F-150 on the first floor of the Family Life Center. WEST CLASS is for adults of all ages, and focuses on Bible study, Christian fellowship and friendship in a discussion format. Class members participate in regular socials and mission projects while striving to encourage each other in their Christian discipleship. Lesson topics and styles vary with the needs and interests of the class but always include a focus on sharing and discussion. The West Class meets in room F-148 on the first floor of the Family Life Center. BARNES CLASS (adults from late 30’s to late 40’s) is a discussion group that concentrates on the discipleship of parents and families. Biblical study and contemporary topics are discussed. An annual retreat plus social activities for couples and families is part of the activities of this class. The Barnes Class meets in rooms F-206/207 on the second floor of the Family Life Center. FORUM CLASS includes energetic couples and singles engaged in discussion, study, prayer, mutual sharing, celebration and service to others as they seek to follow Christ in their daily lives. The Forum Class meets in rooms F-204/205 on the second floor of the Family Life Center. GOD SQUAD is for married couples with school age children. While
keeping Christ at the center of their lives with the help of the Holy Spirit,
married couples recognize the difficulty of balancing calendar, children, and
career. Study topics will focus on living a Christian life in today’s busy
world—a world that easily directs attention away from Christ as the center of
daily life. The God Squad meets in room F-149 on the first floor of
the Family Life Center. HOMEBUILDERS CLASS includes couples in their 30's and 40's with or without children. Discussion topics include Bible study and contemporary issues, including issues related to fostering Christ-centered relationships with our spouses and children. This class offers many social and mission related events. The Homebuilders Class meets in room F-150 on the first floor of the Family Life Center. STEADHAM CLASS is for older adults, married or single. A team of
teachers, who are class members, uses Adult Bible Studies and other
Methodist material for lecture presentations. This large class participates in
monthly socials, sanctuary stewardship, care ministry, and other church
activities such as keeping the Welcome table, giving Thanksgiving baskets, and
once-a-month cooking the Wednesday night supper. The Steadham Class meets
in rooms E-134/136 on the E-Wing. WESLEY CLASS includes adult singles and couples of all ages who love to study God's word. Class time is filled with support, laughter, sharing and rich discussion. The Wesley Class meets in rooms F-153/154 on the first floor of the Family Life Center. |
