Reaching out and caring for children, youth, adults and seniors at Duluth First United Methodist Church.
The vision of the Ministry of Care at Duluth First United Methodist Church is to promote the Christian message of healing the body, mind, and spirit among all persons within our church and community.
"I will praise You, for I am fearfully and Wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul Knows very well."
Psalm139: 14
Care and casseroles, rides to clinics,
And cards for the bedside table
It represents a gathering of people
Who have heard and keep hearing,
The word of the Healer,
Who are busy interpreting the message
Of wholeness in a world of brokenness.
By their own stumbling words, halting actions,
and sometimes distracted thoughts,
They help the persons whom are struggling
To come to terms with some of their problems,
To cope, and in a way, to transcend them
On the pilgrimage to triumph.

Bereavement Meals provides a meal the day of a member’s funeral for the family at home. We provide this when the family may not have another support group in the church.
Homebound Ministry offers individuals, families and Sunday School Classes the opportunity to visit, prepare a meal, deliver CD recordings of Sunday worship, do yard work, run errands and/or handle minor repairs for our homebound members. We ask that you personally touch the homebound with Christian love at least once a month.
Dishes With Wishes provides meals to people who are recovering from surgery, new baby, long-term illness, a difficult time in their lives, difficult pregnancies, or a death in the family. You may help by preparing/delivering “hot meals”, or preparing or delivering meals from our Ministry of Care freezer.
Greeting Card Ministry sends cards to members of the congregation in times of loss, illness, surgery or a new baby. Letting them know that we care and are praying for them.
Monday Morning Prayer Group meets on Monday mornings and prays for the members and others on the prayer list. Afterwards several members will visit the homebound.
"Sermons to Go" Ministry records the Sunday Traditional Worship Service each week. The recordings are then distributed to the homebound, families with a baptism, or others who would like a copy.
Transportation Coordination Committee is dedicated to getting volunteers to assist in non-emergency transportation for members of DFUMC. Usually a transportation need is identified to the church office or Parish Nurse (transportation to a doctor’s appointment, a church service, or church activity).
Wednesday Night Meal Delivery delivers the Wednesday night meals that are prepared by the Dinner Belles to the Homebound. This is from mid-August to mid-May. Deliveries are in the Duluth area.
I will praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.
