Alcoholics Anonymous.

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. The primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

Knott’s Landing meets from noon to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Another AA group meets on Thursday and Friday nights at 8 p.m.  For information on meeting times call the church office at 770-476-3776 or contact Linda Bailey. Alzheimer’s Caregivers Support Group

Alzheimer’s Caregivers Support Group is held the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 7 – 8:30 p.m. in room F-147 in the Family Life Center. This will be a time of sharing, gathering information from others in this situation and sometimes an outside speaker will attend. The group is open to members of our congregation and the community who have loved ones or friends that are dealing with Alzheimer’s. This a free event. If you would like more information, please contact Linda Bailey, Parish Nurse at 770-476-3776, ext. 15, or by e-mail at lbailey@duluthumc.org.

Bereavement Support Group

The Bereavement Group meets once a month. Currently, the group meets on the 4th Monday of every month from 7:00 -8:30 p.m. The group is an open-ended group addressing the needs of those who have experienced the death of a loved one. It is intended to provide support for a grieving individual's journey as they sort out their various feelings. A certified Bereavement Counselor or Stephen Minister facilitates this group. Facilitators' goals are to help validate feelings as normal and address grief as a life long journey versus having a beginning and end. Individuals come and go from the group as they feel they need support. For more information, please call the church office at 770-476-3776 or contact Linda Baileyby email at lbailey@duluthumc.org.

Narcotics Anonymous

Narcotics Anonymous is an international, community-based association of recovering drug addicts. Started 1947, the NA movement is one of the world’s oldest and largest of its type, with nearly twenty thousand weekly meetings in seventy countries. The core of the Narcotics Anonymous recovery program is a series of personal activities know as the Twelve Steps adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous. These “steps” include admitting there is a problem, seeking help, self-appraisal, confidential self-disclosure, making amends where harm has been done, and working with other drug addicts who want to recover.

A Sunday night group meets 7 p.m.  For more information call the church office at 770-476-3776 or contact Linda Bailey by email at lbailey@duluthumc.org. For other information you may also visit the Narcotics Anonymous website at www.na.org.
