The mission of the Spirituality & Prayer Ministry is to: • Pray for Duluth First United Methodist Church and our
community. Activities and areas where you can participate include: • Bible studies and Prayer workshops Early Morning Time of Prayer John Wesley recognized prayer as an important means of grace for Christians. Beginning and ending each day with prayer has long been a tradition of the church. Beginning on Tuesday, May 27, the chapel was opened for prayer Monday through Saturday mornings from 5 to 6 a.m. for an hour of morning prayer time. This will allow those who wish to stop by on the way to work to pray with others before they start their work day. Peter Shin will open the door to the Fellowship Hall at 5 a.m. so you may enter and leave through that door. For more information you may contact Rev. C. Kay Fuino at 770-476-3776, ext. 17, or by clicking on C. Kay Fuino. Forty Days of Prayer "Prayer Guide: Forty Days of Prayer for Spiritual Discernment" Bible Studies & Special Programs Bible studies including studies of the spiritual disciplines will
be announced periodically through the Messenger newsletter for continuing
education for Church members or to meet specific the needs of Living Water
groups, Stephen’s Ministers or Prayer ministers. Intercessory Prayer Teams Intercessory prayer teams are actively supporting the prayer needs of our Church. A group meets at the Church on Monday mornings. Another group receives a weekly prayer list through e-mail distribution. Prayer requests are made through the pastoral staff by phone or through written prayer request forms. Prayer Chapel Duluth First UMC has a beautiful Prayer Chapel located adjacent to the Gathering Room and the Sanctuary. Visitors are welcome to pray and to receive communion during worship hours on Sunday. Communion is not available on the first of each month in the Prayer Chapel, because it is available during the 8:15 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. worship services. Living Water Spiritual Formation Groups Living Water small groups meet each week to support the members in their spiritual formation journey. New groups are formed as needs are made known through the ministry leaders. Resource materials are available in the church library. Renovaré Conferences Renovaré Conferences are conducted each year in various locations in the country. This spiritual renewal movement was founded by Richard Foster, author of several bestselling books including Celebration of Discipline, Streams of Living Water and Prayer. Dallas Willard is another important leader in Renovaré. For more information please click on "Renovaré web site". Healing Prayer Ministry Duluth First UMC Healing Prayer ministry provides workshops in healing prayer and offers healing services as needed. We believe in the power of prayer to heal the soul, the mind and the body. There are many forms of brokenness caused by anxiety, stress, depression, disease and accidents. If you are in physical or emotional pain or if you are suffering from bitterness and the inability to forgive another person, we will pray for your healing. Hedge Ministry Every Sunday morning church members volunteer to pray in the Prayer Chapel for our pastors, our music ministry, for those who assist in the administration of our worship services and those who provide hospitality and safety for our members. We pray for those who are suffering, those who are not saved, the families and the sinners. We encourage our members to support each other through many types of prayer and healing. Prayer is an essential element in all ministries, committees, small groups and activities at Duluth First United Methodist Church. Prayer Requests Please visit the Prayer Chapel located just off of the Sanctuary and Gathering Room. Prayer requests may be left there, or you can use the cards located in the pews during worship services. Phone calls and e-mails to the church staff are forwarded to the intercessory prayer teams For more information about the Prayer & Spirituality Ministry, please contact Rev. Tavye Morgan at 770-476-3776, ext. 39, or by clicking on Tavye Morgan. |
